How widespread is Thyroid Disorders among Patients undergoing Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting? A Study from Tertiary Care Hospital

Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is the most commonly performed cardiac procedure and thyroid disorders (hypothyroidism hyperthyroidism) are widespread endocrine diseases. Till date, there no Indian study pertaining to prevalence of among subjects undergoing CABG. The aim this was determine CABG in a tertiary care hospital. This prospective observational hospital-based having 560 who underwent Pre-operative tests were conducted all subjects. On basis test, divided into groups, “Euthyroid” (normal status) Thyroid subjects, that is, Subclinical Hypothyroidism (SCHypo), Overt (OVHypo), Hyperthyroidism (SCHyper), (OVHyper), based on function test. proportion calculated. population included (Males: 457 females: 103). overall abnormalities 41.07%. SCHypo pervasive disorder (33.75%), followed by SCHyper (4.28%), OVHypo (2.32%), OVHyper (0.7%). Highest number subject (57.8%) 40–59 age group lowest (0.86%) 18–39. more prevalent females (45/103) than males (185/457). Among CABG, common SCHyper, OVHypo, OVHyper. maximum cases 60–79 with female preponderance.
